Kaspersky: 88 Percent Of Companies Have Faced Network Hacking

JAKARTA - The latest IT Security Economics Kaspersky report, throughout 2024, the type of security incident most commonly faced by companies is related to network protection.

In this report, 88 percent of businesses claim to have faced enemies who are trying to infiltrate their networks, while more than 60 percent of companies are experiencing cyberattacks where hackers are trying to control their systems.

Kaspersky also found that large companies experienced the highest level of network security incidents despite implementing the most comprehensive protective measures.

Meanwhile, small and medium enterprises also face similar challenges, with incidents caused by intentional or unintentional actions from their own employees.

According to the global cybersecurity firm, the goal of an attack targeting network security is to exploit system vulnerability and cause damage to data or applications.

When cybercriminals detect a vulnerability point in the system, they will break through to gain unauthorized access and install malware, spyware, or other malicious software.

This weak point is also a gateway for social engineering attacks, which make individuals an easier target.

One of the main factors that contribute to the proliferation of network security problems is the increasing complexity of cyber threats.

Cybercriminals continue to develop new tactics and techniques to bypass traditional security measures, making it difficult for businesses to be at the forefront.

In addition, human error is also another key factor contributing to security incidents, in which 42 percent of companies report incidents in which their own employees are consciously or unconsciously helping the enemy through their actions or inactions.
