AI And Digitalization Have An Important Role In 8 Percent Economic Growth

JAKARTA - Director General of Digital Ecosystems of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, said that digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) play an important role in achieving the annual economic growth target of 8 percent.

According to Edwin, AI not only accelerates productivity but is also a mitigation tool to face national economic challenges.

Therefore, Edwin added, Komdigi continues to take concrete steps by expanding digital infrastructure development, including developing a wide telecommunication network, building reliable data centers, and providing high-performance cloud computing services.

"This infrastructure is the backbone of digital transformation that we encourage to support the growth of various sectors," he said at the 2025 Alibaba Cloud Developer Summit.

Not only providing infrastructure, but the Ministry of Communication and Industry also increases the capacity of human resources through the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) Program, which provides training related to AI and other latest technologies.

In printing qualified digital talents, Komdigi has also collaborated with various parties, including universities, corporations, and other related industries.

In addition, it is also with global industry players to build an inclusive AI ecosystem, such as Alibaba Cloud, which has become one of Indonesia's strategic partners in the development of technology, infrastructure, and AI applications in Indonesia.
