TikTok Starts Recovering On App Store And Other Service Providers

JAKARTA Apple, Google, and other service providers removed the TikTok app from their app store in accordance with the divestment rules set. This deletion was made on January 19, 2025.

Although the US government under the leadership of Joe Biden decided to postpone the divestment rules until Donald Trump took office, the government did not explain the obligation of service providers. Therefore, the TikTok application is still removed on their platform.

However, according to a statement made by TikTok some time ago, the video distribution platform was only closed for one day. That way, TikTok can be reused in the US and service providers are starting to recover its app.

"In accordance with the agreement with our service provider, TikTok is in the process of restoring services," TikTok said via platform X on Monday, January 20. In other words, the application began to be presented back at app stores such as the Play Store and App Store.

Donald Trump has not officially served as president, but TikTok had mentioned the elected president. According to the ByteDance subsidiary, Trump has succeeded in providing the clarity and guarantees that TikTok and service providers need.

"(Trump) provides the necessary clarity and assurances to our service providers that they will not face punishment for providing TikTok to more than 170 million Americans and allowing more than 7 million small businesses to thrive," TikTok said.

Currently, TikTok has been free from divestment rules and Trump has postponed its platform to 90 days. However, TikTok still needs to find ways to stay in the US until the official divestment law does not apply to its company.

Previously, the topic of closing the TikTok platform in the US became a topic of discussion in various parts of the world. The reason is, it's not just TikTok that stops operating, but applications that are integrated or under the company's auspices.

Some of the apps that also disappeared from the App Store, according to Apple reports, are TikTok, TikTok Studio, TikTok Shop Seller Center, CapCut, Lemon8, Hypic, Lark - Team Collaboration, Lark - Rooms Display, Lark Rooms Controller, Gauth: AI Study Companion, and MARVEL SNAP.

The loss of all these applications does not only apply to the US community, but also to visitors to the country. As long as users use Apple accounts set to the country, they cannot download, update, or make purchases on the TikTok application.
