Clubhouse Allows Sharing Of External Links On Its Platform, Users Can Now Promote Their Products
Clubhouse makes it easy for users to monetize accounts.

JAKARTA – A new feature in Clubhouse now allows people to share external links and monetize their work on the platform. Today at The Verge's On The Verge, Clubhouse CEO Paul Davison and head of global marketing Maya Watson announced a new embedded link feature, which allows moderators to place outside links at the top of the room.

These links can direct listeners to whatever the moderator wants, such as a Patreon page, news article, or podcast.

Certain links will not be allowed for security and moderation reasons. Davison did not explicitly mention the types of links that were not allowed, but did suggest links to OnlyFans would not be accepted because links to porn were prohibited.

Anyone can add, change or remove links, as long as they are the moderator of the space and regardless of the number of followers they have. This feature launched on October 27 for iOS and Android.

Clubhouse will not take a cut of revenue from any transactions that occur via the link, though Davison said the team will likely share news in the months ahead about how the app itself will monetize, such as through ticketed rooms and subscriptions.
