JAKARTA - Twitter first launched Space in November last year, in an attempt to overtake the success of Clubhouse, which provides its own audio chat room.

However, unlike Clubhouse, Twitter limits the use of Space to Twitter accounts that only have more than 600 followers. At the time, the company said it had set boundaries to ensure a good experience.

Now Space is available to all Android and iOS users, no matter how many people follow it, and they can start their own audio space by tapping the Spaces icon.

Compiled from The Verge, Friday, October 22, it's a privilege that Twitter should have been given a long time, albeit a little behind its own schedule, given the company's promise that everyone will be able to start Space in April.

The Spaces team also announced via its official Twitter account of the changes, noting that users on Android and iOS can now host Spaces. The update also offers a GIF that briefly refreshes users on how to host Space, in case the user forgets after months.

The microblogging network has been at the forefront over the years, releasing many new features for Spaces, such as the ability to add co-hosts and up to 10 speakers.

The company also implemented a fund-sharing for Spaces creator content called the Spark Program and even trialled Ticketed Spaces, otherwise known as audio rooms that require viewers to pay to enter.

With Twitter lifting restrictions on hosting privileges now, many users may be interested in using the feature. As Spaces grows, will it hasten the Clubhouse's demise, or will it end up as an abandoned feature like Fleets.
