Acquisition Of Bluepoint Studio, Sony Is Working On A New Game

JAKARTA - Bluepoint Studios has finally been officially acquired by Sony. Rumors of the acquisition were first reported by Sony Japan earlier this year, after the tech giant bought Housemarque.

The acquisition of Bluepoint shouldn't come as a surprise, given that the leading game developer has been working with Sony for years. There is no doubt about Bluepoint Studios' progress, as the company is often hard at work on new, original games.

"Being a part of PlayStation Studios empowers our team to raise the bar even further and create more impactful experiences for the PlayStation community," said studio president Marco Thrush.

In addition, Bluepoint Studios also has a number of successful PlayStation exclusives, including the PS4 remake Shadow of the Colossus, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and one of PS5's first hits, the 2020 remake of Demon's Souls.

Quoted from Digital Trends, Friday, October 1, recently, Sony is known to be diligent in buying companies such as Firesprite and Nixxes Software. Firesprite is the developer behind several PlayStation exclusive titles and Nixxes specializes in porting console games to PC, a platform Sony has expressed interest in investing on.

With the acquisition of Bluepoint Studio, it marks the timeline of the company that plans to further expand its wings. Thrush stated that his team and Sony are currently working on the original game, and confirmed that the studio's next game will not be another remake, but an original title.

“Our next project, we are working on original content now. We can't talk about what it is, but it's the next evolutionary step for us. While the studio isn't ready to make any announcements about its next title yet, previous games have set the bar pretty high," Thrush explained.
