Crypto Boss Cardano (ADA) Donates 20 Million Dollars To Carnegie Mellon University To Create A Center For Mathematics Studies

JAKARTA – The founder of the cryptocurrency Cardano (ADA), Charles Hoskinson is reported to have donated US$20 million (equivalent to Rp285 billion) aimed at establishing a mathematics study center called the Hoskinson Center for Formal Mathematics.

Launching CoinDesk, the study center will be built at the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Carniege Mellon University (CMU). It is planned that the study center will be led by a professor of philosophy and mathematics named Jeremy Avigad.

The main focus of the Hoskinson Center study will revolve around mathematical theorems and finding proofs, verification steps, and computer-assisted validation of truth. Therefore, the university revealed that the study center will encourage new ways of doing mathematics because it is supported by a "collaborative digital library" specifically for mathematics.

CMU also believes that this will make technology widely accessible to advance discoveries in a variety of disciplines, including computer science, physics, and economics, as well as other disciplines.

The contribution from the founder of Cardano is very large compared to other donations given to CMU.

"I think in a very short time, the output of this center will be extraordinary," Hoskinson said in a speech at the CMU campus that took place last Thursday.

“It will start small, but big things have small beginnings… then it will expand to include other Bourbaki-style moments where we can cover the whole pedagogy of mathematics and have open source textbooks with this paradigm,” he added.

No wonder Hoskinson made a major contribution to the development of mathematical science. The reason is, the Cardano development team also often helps solve problems that occur in the real world, including internet procurement in Africa. Currently, Cardano's cryptocurrency ranks third after Bitcoin and Ethereum. ADA has managed to overtake BNB and USDT by market cap.
