Tinder Redesigns The Application, Finds Matches Based On Interests

JAKARTA - The matchmaking app Tinder has just redesigned its app. Tinder, gives users greater choice in its social and interactive features with the launch of Tinder Explore.

Much like Swipe Night, Tinder Explore allows users to find a match based on their interests. Users can choose interests such as Foodies, Gamers, Music Lovers, Social Causes, Entrepreneurs, and many more.

The Explore tab is also not a closed group. Tinder says that more interests will be added over time to give users more choices and open new avenues of exploration.

"Today's launch of Explore is a major step in creating a deeper, multi-dimensional, interactive experience for our members that expands the possibilities of Tinder as a platform," said Tinder CEO Jim Lanzone.

Other changes also include adding a filter to allow users to see only profiles that have verified their photo, with a blue tick like on Twitter. This can provide users with a layer of security against any risk of bots or fake profiles, and can also be accessed via the Tinder Explore page.

Tinder Explore will also be where Tinder hosts the company's popular experiments, such as Hot Takes and Swipe Night, which are set to return in November.

However, the bigger story about Tinder Explore isn't just what kind of features it will host now, but what the company has in store for the future. Earlier this year, parent Tinder Match bought Korean social networking company Hyperconnect for $1.73 billion, its biggest acquisition to date.

Tinder will use IP Hyperconnect to make the online dating experience more interactive than it is now, after announcing plans to add audio and video chat, including group live video.

For information, Tinder Explore has started to be launched to the main English-speaking markets on Wednesday and will be available globally in mid-October.
