YOGYAKARTA - After years of being known as a big CC manufacturer of fierce motorcycles, BMW Motorrad is trying something new. Through the Concept CE-02, which the company introduced at IAA Mobility 2021 in Germany, the company offers two modes of future transportation.

Consisting of an electric bicycle named i Vision AMBY and an electric motorcycle named Vision AMBY. Meanwhile AMBY itself stands for Adaptive Mobility -which according to the company is the main value of the two prototypes.

The first product of the Concept CE-02 prototype was the i Vision AMBY. Slim and guaranteed to be comfortable to wear when maneuvering in the middle of city traffic jams.

Not only that, this electric bicycle from BMW Motorrad is able to produce a truly futuristic impression.

Starting from the sharp corners in the frame, athlete-level handlebar, and large tires that better ensure balance. On the wide handlebar, the company added an LED strip with auto high-beam.

The space between the aluminum frame can be used to place a storage bag. According to the company's claims, the 2,000 Wh battery is capable of being used to drive 300 km.

Meanwhile, speed also gets the attention of BMW designers. Equipped with three levels of gear, this eBike is projected to be able to handle various types of conditions. With a speed of up to 25 kph when on a sloping and winding road. While in urban areas, the speed can reach 45 kph.

Vision AMBY: Electric Bike with Moto Sport Design

Compared to the bicycle version, the Vision AMBY comes with a slightly larger design. Inspired by the Motocross design, this electric bike looks tougher. What's more, the company has added thick off-road tires with a 861 mm high sedan.

It features a twist-grip throttle and a forefoot in a traditional bicycle style. As a result, the Vision AMBY electric bike's speed is fairly stable -whether for urban areas, arm roads, or mountain-style winding roads.

Another sophistication of this electric bicycle is that it can be turned on remotely. Users only need to connect the bicycle to their cellphone via a smartphone application. And the application also acts as a digital key.

Through these two bikes, BWM Motorrad offers a new concept of eBike. The German motorcycle manufacturer offers a new idea for environmentally friendly vehicles that blurs the line between bicycles and motorcycles.

Unfortunately, these two prototypes are still just concepts. The company is still reluctant to submit the roadmap for the production of the two eBikes. However, the presence of these two eBikes is certainly a new offer for community mobility in urban areas.
