JAKARTA - Rumors of a folding screen cellphone made by Xiaomi are increasingly being heard. Most recently, Xiaomi will carry a unique camera module configuration for its folding screen phones.

Reporting from SeekDevice, Friday, June 26, Xiaomi again filed a patent design for its folding screen phone to the National Intellectual Property Office of China. The patent that was registered by Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. was approved and published on June 23 yesterday.

Different from the patent design previously registered by Xiaomi, in 2019, Xiaomi carries the concept of a front and rear camera that can function simultaneously, when the cellphone is folded.

Through this camera format, it allows Xiaomi to arrange the camera modules on both sides of the phone simultaneously. So that users can maximize camera quality by increasing the number of lenses.

Unfortunately Xiaomi did not explain in detail the specifications of the camera lens used. It's just that based on the design concept, Xiaomi has slightly trimmed the upper side of the screen to provide enough space for the rear camera when folded.

At first glance this design model is similar to the Huawei Mate X, which does not embed a front camera. So that the screen panel can feel wider, by moving the load point of the camera module on one side which is arranged vertically.

It is not certain whether Xiaomi will use the screen design concept and camera configuration used. But certainly, Xiaomi can cut additional costs from placing the front camera.

Regarding whether this patent design is true or not, there is no further information regarding the presence of a new cellphone from Xiaomi. Another rumor says, Xiaomi will sell this device at a much cheaper price than its competitors.
