JAKARTA - Twitter on Thursday, August 19 said it would introduce several new updates to its direct messages. These changes will roll out to some users in the next few weeks.

The changes include the ability to send direct messages to multiple people in separate conversations due to which of us doesn't accidentally start a group chat that way.

Now, users can share tweets in up to 20 separate DM (direct message) conversations, if the goss is hot enough to share with multiple individual tweeters at once.

This feature will be coming to the iOS version of Twitter

and web first, and Android “soon”.

For iOS users, Twitter changes the DM timestamp; now instead of stamping every message in a DM conversation with date and time, messages will be grouped by day.

This will reduce "time stamp clutter," Twitter said. iOS users will soon be able to access the "add reaction" button not only by double-tapping but by long-pressing on a message.

Android users, sorry, will have to wait to access the last two features, although Android users will get the ability along with iOS users to quickly scroll through DM conversations and return to recent messages by pressing the down arrow key.

Twitter has added many new features in recent months, including a new process for reporting COVID misinformation, an update to its API to make it easier for other apps to navigate to its Spaces audio chat, and a change to its font.

In addition to the new DM feature, on Thursday Twitter also announced it was testing a feature that would make it easier for users to subscribe to Twitter users' Revue newsletters directly from their Twitter profile. It rolled out to web and Android users to get started right away.
