One Of The Founders Of Cyberwolf Killed By His Own Son

JAKARTA - Maryland police have arrested the son of a cybersecurity executive on suspicion of murder. Juanita Naomi Koilpillai was killed at her home in Tracy's Landing on July 25. The cybersecurity expert, who co-founded CyberWolf's advanced automated attack warning system and later founded Waverley Labs, has died aged 58.

The alarm was raised after blood was found by her boyfriend, at her seaside residence Koilpillai. But when the boyfriend couldn't find his partner, he called 911 and reported it.

Soon after this report was made, Koilpillai's body was found outside his home. An investigation by the medical examiner determined that the computer expert, described as "a man of great genius", had died from sharp object injuries. Koilpillai's car, which was also missing, was later found in Leesburg, Virginia.

A car search by the Anne Arundel District Police Department revealed a knife, believed to be the murder weapon. Forensic testing of the knife revealed the presence of DNA belonging to the victim's 23-year-old son, Andrew Weylin Beavers.

The Beavers were arrested in Virginia on Saturday, July 31 and charged with first- and second-degree murder. He was later extradited to Maryland.

Koilpillai, who grew up in India and Sri Lanka, earned master's degrees in computer science and mathematics at the University of Kansas. He then spent three decades working in network management and computer security.

"To grow a startup into a great company and then sell it to an even bigger tech company is a tremendous accomplishment," says Koilpillai's friend Connie Moore.

"But to do it as a woman, to do it as a person of color, just speaks volumes about her tenacity, about her brilliance, about her business acumen, about her technological expertise, it's just incredible. And then she does it again."

CyberWolf Systems, used by the US government, were acquired by cybersecurity firm Symantec in 2002 through the purchase of software vendor Mountain Wave. Shortly before he was killed, the CEO of Waverley Labs, Koilpillai, helped launch Resiliant's information security.
