JAKARTA - Apple has reportedly removed the online dating application Unjected. The app is claimed to spread false information regarding vaccines and COVID-19.
Reporting from Neowin, Monday, August 2, Unjected describes itself as a platform that provides a space for users where they can match with other users who support medical autonomy and free speech.
The dating app reportedly contains false claims that a vaccine produced for COVID-19 has the potential to be a biological weapon, connect to 5G, and modify genes.
The dating app founders are also in conflict with Google over their Android app. Google sent an Unjected notice on July 16 to remove false claims and misleading information from its site within two weeks to prevent the Play Store ban.
However, one of the app's creators Shelby Thompson responded that it would still present the false claim on Unjected, and would not comply with Google's request.
The app also has an account on Instagram that supports its perspective on freedom and has not refrained from spreading misleading posts, such as claiming that mRNA vaccines alter DNA despite Instagram's anti-misinformation stance.
Apple and Google have made it clear that they will not allow apps with anti-vax content. Worse, the app encourages users to use shady tactics to circumvent Apple's regulations. And that is also reason enough to ban Unjected from the App Store.
