Microsoft Launches Child Financial Control Feature On Xbox

JAKARTA - Along with the development of technology, children often spend a lot of money from their parents to play video games. Of course this raises concerns for parents because children often have no limits on how much money their parents spend.

Microsoft announced this new feature on Xbox Wire. In the modern era of gaming, it can be difficult to give a child financial independence while also trusting that they will not spend a lot of money through transactions on video games.

To help provide the best for families, Microsoft is introducing a new credit balance or digital wallet for kids. Parents can add funds directly to their child's balance via the Xbox app, meaning they can give them money with restrictions.

Once the funds are credited to a child's account, they can spend it however they want in the Xbox store. However, once the funds run out, they can't buy anything else unless they get permission from their parents first.

Talking about permissions, Microsoft has also added a ask to buy feature. If they want a new game, they can ask their parents to buy it through the app. Then parents can accept their request or reject it if it is not appropriate.

If they request a new in-game skin or some other type of microtransaction, parents can add funds to their account so they can buy it themselves.

Parents can also use the app to see how their child is managing their finances. For example, how much of their balance is left. With this combined feature, parents can give their children the power to buy what they want, whenever they want. At the same time, parents can double-check whether their children are spending wisely, and limit their finances if not.
