JAKARTA - It looks like some of Samsung's upcoming foldable phones will support the S Pen stylus, according to a US Federal Communications Commission filing for the S Pen Pro. It appears to be a larger version of the S Pen with Bluetooth connectivity.

Quoted from Pocket Lint, Tuesday, July 13, the FCC document reveals that the S Pen Pro will be embedded in the Galaxy Z Fold 3, although Samsung has not officially confirmed its presence. Not only one phone, there is the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, the Note 20 series and many more that will be equipped with this sophisticated pen.

Chances are, the stylus will be released this year. Reliable leaker Evan Blass points out that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 carries the "Fold Edition" theme. Blass assumes it's the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 with a Fold Edition stylus in the box. If so, maybe the S Pen Pro will be sold separately.

In fact, Samsung has teased S Pen support for its foldable device. During last year's Unpacked event, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business of Samsung Electronics, TM Roh said he was quite pleased to hear his customers wanted the S Pen to work with the Fold.

Then, in a blog post in December, Roh revealed that Samsung plans to bring the Galaxy Note's favorite feature to another device, a stylus. Back in January, Roh gave another brief leak that Samsung would be expanding the S Pen experience across enhancement categories in the future.

Usually, the FCC document immediately precedes the product announcement. Given that Blass also leaked that Samsung's next Unpacked event is set for August 11, 2021, we can hear more about Galaxy Z Fold 3 and S Pen support. The Galaxy Z Flip 3, two Galaxy Watches, and the new Galaxy Buds are also expected at the luxury event.
