Come On! Celebrate Palapa Satellite Day With Twibbon Creations

JAKARTA - Today July 9 coincides with Palapa Satellite Day. There are many ways that can be done to celebrate this important day. Of course, there is no need to gather because you have to keep your distance. For example, by uploading Twibbon and selfie photos on your social media.

Interestingly, today Twibbon is celebrating Palapa Satellite Day, the first satellite made by Indonesia that has launched from Cape Canaveral Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA. Quoted from Antara, Friday 9 July, briefly reviewing its history, the launch of Indonesia's first satellite was precisely on July 8, 1976 at 19.31 US time, or July 9, 1976 at 06.31 WIB.

The Palapa A1 satellite was launched on a McDonnell Douglas Delta 2914 rocket launcher, then released over the Indian Ocean at 83 degrees East Longitude (BT). The Palapa A1 satellite orbited from 1976 to 1983.

After a year, it was replaced by the Palapa A2 Satellite which operated from 1977 to 1987. During its development, the Palapa Satellite underwent several changes because the satellite had a limited time period.

Actually, this second project satellite is a backup satellite which is operated if the A1 satellite fails. Launched with the same rocket, the Delta 2914 rocket in March 1977, it is hoped that it will maintain stable communication links.
