JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, emphasized that the development of artificial intelligence technology, especially Agentic AI, must now apply the principle of human in the loop.

Nezar assessed that the development of AI increases the complexity of digital fraud threats because the technology is capable of producing false content that is difficult to distinguish from reality.

Therefore, he added, the ethical approach to AI is no longer voluntary as it was in the early stages of the development of the technology.

"Now our voices can be imitated, our facial images can be imitated, and appear in the form of deepfake videos produced by AI very smoothly," said Nezar, quoted Thursday, June 18.

In fact, Nezar revealed that a number of experts have proposed the implementation of stricter protocols so that important decisions remain under human supervision.

"The public awareness of our community about the development of AI makes many people confused. That's why the scam is extraordinary today. Many experts propose that a fairly strict protocol be carried out, including implementing the principle of human in the loop in decision making," he continued.

He also emphasized that principles such as transparency, accountability, and security must be realized in the process of developing AI products through the ethics by design approach.

"Transparency, accountability, safety, it must be present in the implementation, in the development of one AI product," he said.

Wamen Nezar also encouraged developers, industry players, academics, and the AI user community to strengthen governance and mitigate risks from the planning stage.
