AirPods Will Be Easier to Adjust in iOS 27, Apple Overhauls Audio Settings Menu

JAKARTA - Apple is reportedly preparing a major update to the AirPods management system through iOS 27. This change is said to present a more concise, organized, and easy-to-use settings display for users of Apple's wireless audio devices.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman's report says Apple will update the AirPods control system in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. The update is expected to be introduced at the annual WWDC 2026 event held in June.

Until now, the AirPods settings are considered less practical because they are hidden in several layers of the system menu. Users must first enter the Bluetooth menu to access features such as active noise cancellation, adaptive audio, spatial audio, and touch control settings.

Through this latest update, Apple is said to want to simplify the user experience by presenting a menu that is more functional and easier to understand. A number of key AirPods features will also be displayed more prominently so that users can access them quickly.

The change is said to have emerged after Apple received a lot of feedback from users who wanted a special application for AirPods, similar to the companion application for Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro.

However, the report said Apple likely won't be bringing the AirPods app separately anytime soon. The company is said to still choose to maintain direct settings integration within the operating system.

This update is expected to be an important part of Apple's future audio device development, especially to support new generation devices such as the AirPods Pro 3 which is projected to bring artificial intelligence-based audio features and further voice personalization.

If realized, iOS 27 can be one of Apple's biggest updates in improving the user's audio experience in their device ecosystem.
