JAKARTA - OpenAI is reportedly developing a smartphone designed specifically to run Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. This device will compete with other AI-based mobile phones.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's report, reported by 9to5mac, states that the device will use special hardware from MediaTek or Qualcomm. The phone will be produced by Luxshare, a company that has long been known as the main iPhone assembler.
This device is predicted to redefine the function of a smartphone by embedding a sophisticated AI agent inside it. One of the refreshes in this phone is the removal of the home screen and replacing it with a smart information panel.
The AI in this phone can perform tasks automatically, such as booking flight tickets to collecting market data in real-time. This device will of course be equipped with a variety of advanced and latest AI features.
The development process of this device is estimated to be completed by the end of this year or early 2027. Meanwhile, the mass production phase is estimated to begin in 2028.
Although there has been no official confirmation from OpenAI, many parties suspect that this device will use the Android architecture base. OpenAI's main focus is to ensure that the device runs the task smoothly and without technical obstacles.
The phone developed by OpenAI can compete with Samsung which is known for its AI-based mobile phones. Most likely, this device from OpenAI will be dominated by AI on device features.
