Instagram is testing a new app called Instants. This is an image sharing app designed to disappear within 24 hours, similar to Snapchat.
In addition to being automatically deleted after a day of being uploaded, photos shared on this application can only be viewed once. For now, the trial of this application is only available in two countries, namely Spain and Italy.
Instants are basically like Instagram Stories, but in app form. Users can take a photo with just one tap without any complicated editing or filter features.
This application does not allow uploads from the phone gallery and can only use the camera directly within the application. The goal is to present real and unedited photos.
"To give people a less-pressured way to connect with friends, we're testing an app called Instants to share photos and videos spontaneously," an Instagram spokesperson said, quoted by TechCrunch on Monday, April 27.
Although the uploaded photos cannot be modified, users are still given the freedom to add a short text to their posts. The photos can then be shared with existing followers or a list of Close Friends.
The app is already available for download on both iOS and Android devices in the listed countries. During the testing period, Instagram will listen to feedback from its community to improve the app experience.
