BINAR together with Microsoft Indonesia and the State Civil Service Agency (BKN) officially held the GARUDA AI Regional Summit I at the Harry Jusuf Auditorium, Prasetiya Mulya University, Banten, a few days ago.
Involving the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, the Banten Provincial Government, and Prasetiya Mulya University as Academic Collaborators, this event was attended by more than 80 ASN in person and 700 online participants from various government agencies throughout Indonesia.
The hybrid summit is part of Microsoft Elevate, a national AI skilling program that focuses on the development of applied, structured, and certification-based AI skills to ensure Indonesian talent not only understands AI, but is able to apply it in the context of work and public services.
"Through GARUDA AI, we encourage Indonesian civil servants not only to understand AI, but to use it in real terms in faster, more accurate, and impactful decision-making and public services," said AI Skills Director, Microsoft Indonesia, Arief Suseno.
Banten Province is considered to have the most ready capital in terms of digital infrastructure among other regions, including the existence of the ETKI SEZ as a technology-based innovation, incubation, and regulation center.
The most crucial moment of this summit was the panel session which specifically challenged ASN Banten Province to design AI breakthroughs in the field of job readiness.
Participants are asked to go through three main stages, namely defining a real problem, building AI literacy to evaluate the output critically, and integrating AI into the workflow to increase sustainable productivity.
The results of the discussion are summarized in the Draft Regional Policy Recommendations on AI-Enabled Job Readiness and Workforce Development. This document will be brought to the AI National Summit in Jakarta in June 2026 as input for the national AI policy.
After Banten, the series of summits will continue to four other major cities before culminating in Jakarta with the ultimate vision of making Indonesia a center of digital talent in the ASEAN region.
