Apple Halts Mac Pro Production With No Plans for New Hardware

Apple has decided to stop producing the Mac Pro. In line with this decision, Apple has removed the device from its sales website since Thursday, March 26.

To 9to5Mac, Apple confirmed that they have no plans to offer a new Mac Pro hardware in the future. That is, the future of the device has ended and Apple will focus on other Mac series.

The future of the Mac Pro has not looked good for the past few years. The last industrial design of the device was introduced in 2019 without any updates.

Since the M2 Ultra chip update in June 2023, the fate of the Mac Pro has been increasingly uncertain in the market. The device is still sold at a high price even though Apple has introduced a more powerful M3 Ultra chip for other models.

In addition to the Mac Pro, its supporting product, which is called Pro Display XDR, has also been discontinued as of early March. Now, Apple will only focus on three main desktop devices, namely iMac, Mac mini, and Mac Studio.

For a more specific category, namely laptops, Apple will focus on developing the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Neo. The presence of this entry-level MacBook is believed to strengthen Mac products in the next few years.

By discontinuing the Mac Pro, Apple can focus on developing the Mac Studio line. Apple can also now fully focus on developing and integrating more efficient and powerful self-made chips.
