JAKARTA - Spotify is changing the way people enjoy music again. Through a new feature called SongDNA, this streaming platform presents a deeper song exploration experience - not just listening, but "tracing the DNA" behind each track.

Imagine again looking for one song, then suddenly wandering into dozens of other artists because they are all connected. More or less like that is how SongDNA works - a domino effect that makes users get stuck in a "rabbit hole" of music unconsciously as time passes.

This feature comes as a new section in the Now Playing view, which allows users to see the relationship between songs, artists, and music eras in an interactive way.

SongDNA feature on Spotify

With SongDNA, users can instantly explore who is behind a song - from writers, producers, to collaborators. Not only that, Spotify also displays elements such as samples, interpolations, and cover versions inspired by the song.

Interestingly, each of these elements can be clicked. From one producer, users can jump to another artist who has worked together, then continue to the next network. The result? The experience of listening to music turns into a big map of the music industry.

To access it, users simply open a song in the Spotify app, then scroll down until they find the SongDNA card. From there, the exploration can begin.

This feature is being released gradually for Premium users on iOS and Android, and is expected to be more widely available by April.
