JAKARTA - Alibaba Cloud presents the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics as the smartest Olympic event in history.
This initiative is part of Alibaba's partnership as a TOP Global International Olympic Committee (IOC) Partner in promoting the sustainable digital transformation of the Olympic Movement.
Through a series of cloud-based and AI-based solutions, Alibaba Cloud empowers the IOC and the Milano Cortina organizing committee to monitor energy consumption, optimize transportation systems, improve broadcasting operations, and provide the first use of large language model (LLM) technology in the Olympic environment.
The cloud and AI systems implemented are said to open up opportunities for smarter operations and deeper involvement for the Olympic ecosystem.

In terms of sustainability, Alibaba Cloud presents an energy management system that allows for real-time monitoring of electricity consumption and carbon emissions across venues.
Energy disruption tracking systems and sustainability evaluation platforms are also implemented to improve efficiency and long-term impact for local communities.
On the operational side, low-latency livestreaming-based Video Adjudication technology helps referees make more accurate decisions through multi-angle camera synchronization and instant replays.
The cloud-based transportation system also supports the mobility of more than 80,000 athletes, staff, and volunteers in an area of 22,000 square kilometers.
In broadcasting, OBS Live Cloud Platform replaces traditional satellite distribution with a more flexible cloud-based system.
AI solutions such as Real-Time 360ยบ Replay and Automatic Media Description are also used to produce thousands of highlights of the matches, reinforcing the new standard of intelligent broadcasting at the Olympic Games.
President of International Business and SVP of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group, Feifei Li, called Milano Cortina 2026 an important milestone as it was the first Olympics to utilize LLM technology through the Qwen model.
