JAKARTA - Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) officially launched the Sahabat-AI application, a new artificial intelligence platform designed specifically for the Indonesian people.
The presence of Sahabat-AI is Indosat's commitment to building a new technology ecosystem, especially AI that is sovereign, and based on local values.
The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Meutya Hafid, emphasized that Sahabat-AI is a form of national technological independence, which is expected to open access as widely as possible regardless of the user's background.
"We need AI that is built with the language, cultural values, and interests of our own nation. This platform proves that Indonesia is capable of providing technology that is relevant to its people," said Meutya at the launch of the Sahabat-AI application on Wednesday, February 25.
As a local AI platform, the application, which carries the slogan "Si Paling Indonesia", presents various in-depth understandings of Indonesian culture, ranging from language to community context.
President Director and CEO of Indosat, Vikram Sinha, emphasized that the presence of Sahabat-AI is not only for Indosat, but for the people of the country.
"We built this platform with the belief that technology should bring benefits to everyone. With its open and accessible nature, we provide an innovation foundation for individuals, startups, to public institutions throughout the country," he said.
