JAKARTA - After being tested in mid-January, WhatsApp officially launched the Group Message History sharing feature. With this new feature, new members can better understand group conversations.

This feature helps old users to share messages without having to take screenshots one by one. When using this feature, the system will automatically send messages to new members.

This feature can be accessed by anyone in the group, whether it's an admin or a regular member. They can choose the number of messages they want to share with new members, ranging from 25 to 100 messages from the last conversation history.

"This keeps things simple, ensuring new members only need to read the most relevant and up-to-date context, and the entire group can easily see the messages that have been shared," WhatsApp said in a release, quoted on Friday, February 20.

WhatsApp also gives flexibility to all members, whether they have an admin label or not. Anyone in a group chat can see which messages are shared for new members.

However, group admins still have full control over using this feature. If according to the admin, message history sharing is not needed, they can disable the sharing option in the settings.

In order to maintain transparency, the system will provide an automatic notification to all members when message history is sent. Old messages will also appear with a different visual design so that they are not confused with the latest conversation.

This feature is being rolled out gradually to all users in various parts of the world. If you haven't seen the feature, you need to make sure that the installed WhatsApp application is in the latest version.
