Threads launched Dear Algo, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based feature designed to control account algorithms. This feature can help users in organizing the content they want to see.
Threads explains that Dear Algo works like an intelligent AI assistant. If users are disturbed by content recommendations on their accounts, users can submit a written request that can change its algorithm.
To use this feature, users only need to write certain keywords in public uploads. Users can type commands that begin with the word 'Dear Algo' followed by the specific topic of interest.
"Dear Algo, show me more K-Pop content," or, "Dear Algo, show me less political content."
After the above request is uploaded, the algorithm will immediately adjust the content on the timeline for the next three days. This adjustment is very useful for users who want to follow certain trends in depth in a short time.
Interestingly, users can also re-upload or repost someone else's Dear Algo request. In this way, the content preferences of other people's accounts will automatically be applied to personal accounts.
"We want Dear Algo to make Threads feel more personal, whether you're following trending topics or exploring a particular interest. This is another way we help you find the latest conversations that are relevant to you," Threads said.
Currently, this advanced feature is available for users in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Threads plans to expand this feature to more countries in the near future.
