JAKARTA - The Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Ministry of Communication and Digital, Alexander Sabar, asked the X platform to comply with applicable regulations in Indonesia.
Alex said that X had approached the Indonesian government and expressed its commitment to comply with all applicable rules, especially regarding the misuse of Grok AI on its platform which is used to create sexual content.
"They have come, stating that they will comply with the rules in Indonesia. And if we look at the implementation, it is like that, but it is temporary, even they are doing geo blocking specifically for Indonesia," said Alex when met in Jakarta on Tuesday, January 27.
Regarding the possibility of a permanent block, Alex emphasized that this could be done if the social media platform owned by billionaire Elon Musk did not meet its obligations in accordance with national regulations.
"If they do not comply with our rules, it is possible that a permanent block could be imposed," said Alex.
Alex also asked the global digital platform company to have an official representative in Indonesia. Because according to him, until now, X has not appointed a representative or opened an office in the country.
