JAKARTA - Spotify presents two new features in the Messages service, namely Listening Activity and Request to Jam, to make it easier for users to share and enjoy music in real time with friends and family.
The presence of these two features is an effort by the company based on the development of the Messages feature within Spotify, which has been used by nearly 40 million users, by sending nearly 340 million messages.
Listening Activity will give users a real-time overview of what music their friends and family are listening to. This feature will only be visible to friends and family who are already connected to you Messages.
Meanwhile, Request to Jam, makes it easier for users to listen to music together. You just need to invite friends or family who are connected to you in Messages to a live listening session.
When friends are in a Jam together, participants will see each other's display names, as well as suggested songs based on their combined taste profiles.
"Users can leave a Jam whenever they want, and a pending Jam invitation will expire if it is not accepted within a few minutes," Spotify wrote in an announcement on its official website.
Listening Activity and Request to Jam features are now being launched for users in markets that support Messages features on iOS and Android devices, and will be widely available in other markets in early February.
The listening feature is available for all users who have access to Messages, and Free users can join a Request to Jam session when invited by a Premium user.
