JAKARTA - China's cyber regulator has officially released a draft of new rules to tighten oversight of Artificial Intelligence (AI) services that are capable of working like humans.
This step is taken to shape a safer and ethical AI development for consumers in the country. This rule targets AI products that have a mindset, communication style, and the ability to interact emotionally with users.
This regulation will cover various interaction formats, ranging from text, images, audio, to video. The government requires service providers to warn users not to use these technologies excessively.
Companies must also intervene if signs of Addiction are found in their users. AI service providers are now required to build a strict algorithm review system and ensure the protection of user personal information.
The draft also pays special attention to the psychological risks that may arise from emotional interaction with the machine. Companies are expected to be able to identify extreme emotional conditions or unreasonable levels of user dependence.
If users show addictive behavior, service providers must take real action to limit access. This is done in order to maintain the mental stability of the community in the midst of massive use of digital assistants.
In addition, this rule sets strict content limits to maintain national security. AI services are prohibited from producing hard content that spreads rumors, promotes violence, or contains pornography.
