JAKARTA - Firefox is now integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), but not all users like the improvement. In response to this, Firefox will come with an AI kill switch.

This was conveyed by Mozilla CEO Anthony Enzor-DeMeo. Launching from PC Mag, Enzor-DeMeo promised to develop a special feature to disable the AI feature in Firefox. That way, users can use the traditional version of Firefox.

This decision was made after Mozilla received an open letter from the community. The letter stated that the integration of AI in Firefox was not in line with Mozilla's core values. The company was also criticized for often ignoring user feedback.

Responding to the criticism, Enzor-DeMeo said his job was to make Firefox useful for everyone. He is committed to maintaining a balance between technological innovation and user preferences that want simplicity.

"Firefox will remain a browser built on user control," Enzor-DeMeo said in a statement, quoted on Wednesday, December 24.

The feature, which is referred to as the 'kill switch' AI, is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2026. With this feature, users can delete all AI elements from the Firefox interface without exception.

Mozilla added that all AI features will be optional and not forced. This kill switch will be a guarantee that AI features will not appear again in the future.
