Eclipse Phenomenon, Super Blood Moon On Vesak Celebration Night

JAKARTA - Lunar eclipses will occur throughout Indonesia. This phenomenon becomes very special because it occurs in conjunction with the Vesak Holy Tri celebration which will take place on May 26 tomorrow.

This full moon is the second supermoon to occur this year. In addition to coinciding with Vesak day celebrations, the phenomenon of the super blood moon is more special because it occurs once every 195 years.

So the ideal time to watch the super blood moon at its peak at 18.13.30 WIB or 19.13.30 WITA and 20.13.20 WIT.

"Therefore, this Lunar eclipse can also be referred to as the Super Red Moon considering its greater wide-angle of 13.77 percent compared to when it is at its furthest point (Apogee), and its brilliance is 15.6 percent compared to the average or 29.1 percent brighter than when Apogee", explained LAPAN.

The total duration of this eclipse phase is quite short, which is 14 minutes 30 seconds. More ably, GBT on May 26, 2021, coincides with the Vesak seconds on 15 Suklapaksa (Paroterang) Waisaka 2565 Buddhist Era.

"Basically Vesak seconds occur when the full Vesak or also called Waisaka Purnima which always falls on the 15th Suklapaksa in the month of Vaisakha", LAPAN wrote.
