JAKARTA OpenAI updated its interface for one of its features on ChatGPT. Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbots now display sound mode in the same chat room instead of changing to separate mode.

Previously, when the user activated the sound mode in ChatGPT, they would see a new page featuring a simple conversation animation. As long as the chat is running, interactions in text form will run in the background.

This text conversation can only be seen after the user has finished the voice chat. Now, conversations in separate mode have been removed by default and users can chat with chatbots while viewing text responses in real-time.

"Now you can use ChatGPT Voice directly in the chat, without the need for separate modes," OpenAI wrote via X on Wednesday, November 26. "You can talk, see the replies that appear, review previous messages, and view visuals like images or maps in real-time."

OpenAI stated that this change will make it easier for users to switch between speech and text inputs in one session. However, users still need to tap the 'end' button to stop voice conversations when they are ready to switch back to text mode.

This latest interface display is being rolled out to all users on mobile and web devices. To get this latest view, users only need to update their app through their device app store, including the Google Play Store and App Store.

However, if the user prefers the sound display in separate mode, OpenAI still provides the option to return to that view. Users can disable 'Separated Mode' by accessing Voice Mode within Settings.
