JAKARTA - TikTok has started rolling out new digital health-related features, including affirmation journals and background sound generators, designed to improve the mental health of its users. The platform will also provide badges to users who manage to control the use time of the app.
The company is reshuffling the screen time management page (screen time management) and adding a variety of new features. Among them are affirmative journals with more than 120 positive prompts to help users set daily intentions, sound generators that play calming sounds such as rain or waves, as well as breathing training modules. TikTok will also display content from creators who discuss how to limit screen time, use parental features, and adjust feeds.
TikTok introduces a badge system to reward users, especially teenagers, who use a healthy in-district platform. The company says it has reviewed the academic literature on digital health and found that too tight restriction tools could actually have a negative impact on teens.

To get this badge, users need to complete various missions. For example, a sleep duration mission, namely by not using TikTok at night. Users can also get a badge using a new meditation tool.
TikTok also provides badges to users who set daily time limits and comply with these limits. Other badges can be obtained by looking at weekly screen time reports or inviting friends to complete the same mission.
TikTok said that during the initial testing, more users visited new versions of the digital welfare page compared to previous time management pages. Of all the features tested, the affirmative journal became the most popular.
In addition, TikTok will display a link to the digital medical device when the user is active using the app at night or when it has reached the daily screen time limit.
In July 2025, TikTok has also launched a series of new parental control tools that allow guardians to block certain accounts and receive notifications when teens upload public videos or stories.
In the past month, tech companies such as Meta, YouTube, OpenAI, and Discord have also added new security features to improve the safety of teenage users.
