JAKARTA Any app should be updated regularly. However, some users may want to lower their Android app version, especially if their app is problematic.

Restoring the old version of Android app is an easy thing to do, especially if you are facing technical problems. Even so, you are advised to report the problem to the app developer first.

If so, the first step that needs to be done is to uninstall the current version of the application. You can delete most third-party applications, but for the system app, you may only be able to remove the installation of the update that has been installed.

The easiest way to delete application installations is through mobile settings. For the latest Android version, you can open Settings, select the App menu, then search for and select problematic applications from the list.

After finding the application, tap App Info which contains more details. On this page, you will be advised to select Force Stop first to make sure the application does not run.

Once stopped, you need to determine how to delete the existing version. For third-party applications, tap Delete Installation next to the Force Stop button and follow the instructions.

Meanwhile, for system applications that have been installed on your phone, you must select the Remove update installation option which is usually located in the three-dot icon. This order will return the application to the factory version and delete all the data.

Keep in mind that reinstalling the old version or sideloading is not easy to do. Especially for users who are registered in Google's Advanced Protection Program.

For users who rely on Google's security protocols, there are no easy solutions to return the app to the previous version. The sideloading process is also more complicated after Google introduced developer verification requirements.
