Google Meet And Chat Integration Allows Users To Attend Overcoming Meetings

JAKARTA - Google is further strengthening integration between its Meet platform and its Chat. Starting November 10, all messages sent during meetings on Google Meet will be available on Google Chat and can be accessed by meeting participants after the meeting is over. In addition, this update also features emoji reactions and file sharing capabilities directly on Google Meet.

Through this integration, users can now still find out the essence of the important meetings they missed. Important messages and links shared during the meeting will be automatically saved in Google Chat conversations with other participants, making it easier to review discussion material.

In its official blog post, Google explains that this change aims to increase post-meeting follow-up and user productivity. By consolidating all conversations and files in one place, namely Google Chat, users will find it easier to find messages or documents shared.

Meeting participants can also send a 'pre-read material' or supporting documents before the meeting starts via Google Chat. This material can later be accessed directly in Google Meet calls. In addition, now users can also respond to messages with emojis, creating a more interactive and fun meeting atmosphere.

This integration is specifically designed for calls scheduled via Google Calendar. However, the meeting host still has the option to disable this feature before the meeting starts via setting the video call option on Google Calendar.

For security reasons, external participants can only access chat rooms as long as they are in the meeting. They cannot see or participate in discussions before or after the meeting takes place. While internal participants will see indicators and special notifications when there are external guests in the conversation.

This Google Meet and Chat integration feature will be available to businesses and enterprises version of Google Workspace subscribers, including the Enterprise Essentials, Essentials Plus, Enterprise Starter, Standard, Plus, Business Starter, Standard, Plus, Frontline Starter, Standard, and Plus packages.
