Nubia Z80 Ultra Officially Launches: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 7,200mAh Battery, And Pro Camera

JAKARTA Nubia officially introduced the Z80 Ultra in China, a flagship smartphone that is ready to challenge the dominance of premium phones with a combination of power, durability, and professional photography features.

This phone comes with an OLED BOE Q9+ screen measuring 6.85 inches of 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz, resulting in a super smooth display with a peak brightness level of 2,000 nits. The screen also supports PWM and DC dimming attenuation technology for eye convenience.

The kitchen is reinforced by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset made by Qualcomm with a more efficient 3nm TSMC fabrication. This chipset is combined with RAM up to 16GB LPDDR5X and up to 1TB of internal storage, making it one of the most powerful devices in its class.

Designed for extreme performance, Nubia embeds a composite metal liquid cooling system with a super large 3D vapor chamber to keep the temperature stable while playing heavy games. There are also Synopsys Touch IC and physical gaming buttons for control experience like professional consoles.

In terms of audio and durability, the Z80 Ultra is equipped with dual speakers with DTS:X Ultra technology as well as IP68 and IP69 certifications which make it resistant to dust and water. The safety features are equipped with an under-screen fingerprint sensor.

For photography, Nubia is not kidding. This phone carries a 50MP OmniVision LightMaster 990 main camera ( 1/1.3 inches sensor), accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide camera, as well as a 64MP 2.7x telephoto periscope lens with 15 cm tele-macro support. The 16MP front camera is hidden under the screen for a full design without a notch.

Interestingly, Nubia also offered a Professional Photography Kit for about US$95, containing premium nanoskin bodies, titanium frames, ergonomic cow skin handles, camera control physical buttons, regulatory wheels, T-mount seats for external lenses, 67mm filter adapters, and cold shoes for additional lights or microphones.

Powered by a jumbo battery of 7,200mAh, the Z80 Ultra supports fast charging of 90W cables and 80W wireless, ensuring tremendous durability even for heavy use.

Softwareally, this phone runs Android 16 with the AIOS 2 Nebula, presenting various AI-based experiences that characterize modern flagship.

The price of the Nubia Z80 Ultra starts at around $700 for the basic variant and reaches $850 for the highest version. In addition, there are special editions such as Starry Night Collector's Edition and Luo Tianyi Custom Edition.

Sales have started on the Chinese market, while global launches are scheduled to take place in the next few months.

With a combination of gahar performance, giant batteries, and professional camera packages, the Nubia Z80 Ultra looks ready to shake up the flagship market which has been controlled by Samsung, Xiaomi, and OnePlus.
