Apple Vision Pro Developer Strap Will Get Unexpected Improvements

JAKARTA - Apple appears to be preparing a new version of Developer Trap for Apple Vision Pro devices, after Apple Developer's official page updated information that the accessory will soon be bookable.

The previous Strap developer sold for US$300 (approximately IDR 4.7 million) and serves to connect the Vision Pro headset to Mac via a USB-C cable. Now, strong indications have emerged that Apple is preparing to launch a second-generation version of the accessory.

This is known from the videoOS Resources page on the Apple Developer website which displays various guidelines for the developer of the Vision Pro application. In the list, there is a new information regarding the Developer Trap which reads: Available to order on 10/22

This information was first revealed by a Reddit user named 'Mastoraz', who discovered the note on Apple's official page. Interestingly, Apple has not made any official announcements or hints about the new version of the Developer Trap.

Previously, Apple's focus was only on launching the new Dual Knives Band, while none of the promotional material mentioned Developer Trap. In fact, until the Vision Pro update with the M5 chip, Apple still sells the old version without sign of stopping sales.

Although there has been no confirmation, the October 22 availability date most likely marks the launch of a new version of Developer Trap. This time also coincides with the updated release schedule of the Vision Pro model.

Apple Insider reported that it had contacted Apple to ask for further clarification on the news.

Interesting Improvement For Developers

The early version of Developer Trap is designed to replace the audio module on the right side of the Vision Pro headset. This accessorie allows developers to connect their headsets to Mac via a USB-C cable to transfer data and display Vision Pro's display on the Reality Composer Pro via a more secure cable connection than Wi-Fi.

Although used on high-specification devices, the first version of Developer Trap only supports USB 2.0 speed, which means the connection is more focused on security, not on increasing data transfer speed.

The new version of Developer Trap is expected to come with a design adapted to Vision Pro's latest model, and is expected to support higher speeds like USB 3.2 Gen 2 or even Thunderbolt. If that's the case, this accessory could be an important tool for developers to accelerate their workflow in the visionOS ecosystem.

Apple, as usual, is still closing its official details meeting leaving curiosity among developers and technology enthusiasts ahead of October 22.
