NetApp Launches New Storage System To Accelerate AI Data Management

JAKARTA - NetApp, the world's leading data intelligence infrastructure company, launched NetApp AFX 1K and NetApp AI Data Engine (AIDE), which will help maintain the security of client data, amid the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

NetApp AFX is an all-flash-based high-speed data storage system specifically created for large-scale AI computing needs, which have been certified for use on the NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD supercomputer system.

Interestingly, this 1K AFX NetApp is designed with a "disAGregated" model, or separate between storage and computing components. If previously capacity and computing had to be increased simultaneously, now both of them could be increased independently and more efficiently.

"So in the past, every time we want to upgrade, we have to add both. Now, we can add each other. So we increase the capacity, we add the computation separately, independently," explained Country Manager, NetApp Indonesia Michael Thiotrisno at the Media Group Interview event on Thursday, October 16.

With this approach, NetApp hopes that client companies will be able to adjust capacity and computing power according to the company's AI needs, without waste of resources.

Meanwhile, NetApp AIDE is here as a comprehensive AI data service that makes it easier for companies to run artificial intelligence projects, ranging from data collection and preparation to application in the Generative AI (GenAI) application.

NetApp AIDE will also offer comprehensive and up-to-date views on all customer data in the NetApp ecosystem, support fast data search and curation, as well as smooth integration with various models and tools on on-premises and public cloud.

In terms of security, NetApp AIDE is equipped with built-in guardrails which will protect data at every stage of AI's life cycle, ensuring security and privacy. By presenting AI directly to data through an integrated system, AIDE provides the efficiency, data clarity, and governance needed by the company to adopt AI.

"Through this new platform, companies can index and browse large amounts of unstructured data across their company's environment to encourage innovation and produce a real business impact," he concluded.
