Family Education Meta Related To Youth Account Security Through Instagram Safety Camp

JAKARTA Meta held an Instagram Safety Camp, a forum held to raise awareness of digital security. Through this event, Meta Wants to empower the online experiences of families and children.

The event was attended by a number of parties, ranging from parents, content creators, psychologists, to the community. During the event, they discussed parenting in the digital era, digital welfare, and the latest security features from Meta.

This discussion also discussed a lot about Youth Accounts on Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. In addition, the security features of Meta are also discussed in-depth, for example, the limitation feature for anyone who can contact a teenage account.

Recent research from Ipsos for Meta shows that parents and guardians in Indonesia support the creation of special social media accounts for teenagers. This account is expected to have a series of additional protections to maintain the safety of teenagers in cyberspace.

"Departing from the strong support of parents, Meta is expanding the protection coverage of the Youth Account feature, which was first launched on Instagram earlier this year, to Facebook and Messenger in Indonesia," said Berni Moestafa, Meta's Head of Public Policy, in a statement received by VOI on Thursday, October 16.

Moestafa added that Meta's main goal is to provide peace of mind for parents and guardians. He also said he wanted to empower teenagers to connect, learn and explore safely in the digital world.

That way, children can stay connected to friends or family without worrying parents or guardians. They can manage what content children or teenagers can access and how long they can access social media.
