Menkomdigi Opens Voice About Urges For Revision Of The Law On Public Information Disclosure

JAKARTA - The Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, responded to the Central Information Commission (KI) and its staff throughout Indonesia urging the acceleration of the Revision of the Law on Public Information Disclosure (UU KIP).

Meutya said that her party would discuss the proposal with the ranks of the government and the Information Commission. Because according to him, Komdigi has not received an update regarding the pressure.

"Later we will discuss it together with the government from our own public information commission, it has not been updated, but of course the revision of the law in talks with the DPR," said Meutya at the Garuda Spark Innovation Hub Launching event and the Indonesian Digital Community Index (IMDI) on Thursday, October 2.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that the revision of the KIP Law was included in the medium-term discussion plan, although the schedule might only be realized by 2025 or 2026.

"For 2025, if I'm not mistaken, it hasn't been entered yet, 2026 has not yet. But maybe if there is a change in the middle of the road we will discuss it together," added Meutya further.

Previously, the Chairman of the Central KI, Donny Yoesgiantoro, in Tangerang, said that the acceleration of the revision of the KIP Law was an important point from the results of the 14th Technical Working Meeting (Rakernis) in 2025 which was held at the Tangerang City Government Center, Banten.

"From the results of the Rakernis, we have several important points to convey to the Minister of Communication and Trade and the President, especially the revision of the KIP Law. We will convey everything in today's minutes," Donny said as quoted by ANTARA.

The Information Commission moved quickly. Donny said that KI would form a team to accelerate the revision of the KIP Law no later than November 2025, involving the Central KI and the Chair of the Provincial KI. The main target is to ensure that this revision is included in the 2027 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas).

Several other strategic steps will be taken, namely the hearing by seeking a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto. The meeting between the Central Information Commission and the leadership of the DPR RI no later than June 2026.
