JAKARTA - Apple is retesting Siri with an internal chatbot application similar to a ChatGPT called Veritas. After experiencing various obstacles and delays, Apple is now trying a new strategy to revive its digital assistant. According to a Bloomberg report, Apple's AI team developed an iPhone application specifically for trials, codenamed Veritas Latinal meaning "true."
Unlike Siri, Veritas works like a modern chatbot. He can remember previous conversations, follow up on old questions, and support longer and more in-depth interactions. This format allows Apple's AI team to test new features quickly and with minimal obstacles, without slowing down the development process.
The main focus of the current trial is contextual search. This means that Siri will be able to withdraw personal data of users such as email, text messages, to calendar schedules to provide more detailed and personal answers.

However, Apple Intelligence's own journey did not go smoothly. At the launch, the summary feature of the notification was problematic so it was temporarily disabled in January 2025. The new version of Siri was originally scheduled to come with iOS 18.4 in March 2025, but the update only features part of Apple Intelligence, without Siri's promised presence.
In April, Apple finally acknowledged that Siri's latest launch was delayed indefinitely. To improve the situation, Apple overhauled leadership by replacing Siri's then division head, John Giannandrea, and appointed Mike Rockwell who previously led Apple's Vision Pro team.
If according to plan, Siri's new version, which is reinforced by Veritas technology, will be officially released in 2026.
