JAKARTA - Germany's defense startup! Introduced a new autonomous combat drone on Thursday, September 25. They join the race to build a remotely controlled system that can storm the battlefield in groups with other robots or work with manned aircraft to help reshape the future of air warfare.

The company showcased a full-sized model of a V-tailed drone and an angular design at a factory outside Munich.

The CA-1 Europa weighs about four tonnes and is included in a rapidly growing category called Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAV) which is cheaper and considered more sacrificeable than classic fighter jets, given the increasingly difficult terrain and rising costs for the air force.

They say the artificial intelligence-powered drone can operate on its own, in clusters with other unmanned vehicles, or under the direction of advanced fighter aircraft in a formation called "wingman".

Last year, the US Air Force selected California-based startup Anduril and drone manufacturerGeneral Atomics to develop its first fleet of "Collaborative Combat Aircraft" capable of carrying out missions such as jamming or acting as bait. In June, Airbus also showcased its original-sized model for the concept of drones designed to fly with current generations of jets such as Eurofighter Typhoons.

They said they were planning an investment of hundreds of millions of euros for the project, which would involve collaboration with other unnamed European companies. The company declined to explain what weapons would be carrying or what the exact cost would be, only saying the cost would be "a small amount" of the cost of ordinary fighter jets.

Founded in 2021,chaotics specializes in AI software and also switches to providing systems for smaller attack drones for Ukraine following Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.
