Huawei Launches New AI Infrastructure To Compete With NVIDIA

JAKARTA Huawei is launching a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure to increase computing power. In addition, this AI infrastructure was also launched to compete with processor makers such as NVIDIA.

The infrastructure announced through the Huawei Connect conference is named SuperPoD Interconnect. Launching from TechCrunch, this technology is capable of connecting up to 15,000 graphics cards so that computing power can increase significantly.

This technology is touted as a direct competitor to NVLink's NVIDIA infrastructure. NVLink is known for facilitating high-speed communications between AI processors. Huawei now offers similar solutions to their market.

This infrastructure is important for Huawei to dominate the computing market. Although their AI Ascend processors are less powerful, this clustering of processors can provide greater computing power. This is urgently needed to train and scale AI systems.

The announcement comes after China banned local companies from buying NVIDIA hardware. The ban includes an RTX Pro 600D server specifically designed for the Chinese market. This ban provides Huawei with great opportunities in the domestic market.

With the ban, demand for domestic AI processors and infrastructure will increase. Huawei is now in a good position to meet these needs. This is a strategic advantage for Huawei amidst global competition.
