IPhone 17 Air Will Be An Attractiveness At Apple Launching Event

JAKARTA Apple will launch its newest iPhone 17 lineup, but the show is expected to look normal. This happens because the specifications Apple offers still haven't surpassed competitors.

In terms of on-device Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, Apple is still far behind, even from manufacturers like Samsung. According to an analyst, Apple will face major challenges in maintaining AI-based devices on the market.

However, the iPhone Air is believed to be a savior. Overall, there hasn't been much change in the iPhone model except for the shape of the camera with the phone's bezel. Unlike the iPhone Air, this device is a new challenge for Apple.

The company may be able to successfully pack a large battery and a sophisticated camera into a thinner phone. Breakthroughs like this make Apple able to survive in the market and compete with other thin phones such as the Galaxy S25 Edge.

"It's been a long time since we've seen a meaningful update to this device form factor in addition to a gradual change," said Main Analyst Forrester Dipanjan Chatterjee, as reported by Reuters on Tuesday, September 9.

The iPhone Air could also be the beginning for Apple to release folding iPhones in the future. This phone is expected to be a platform for upgraded Siri. If Apple succeeds with its folding iPhone, the company will surpass Samsung and Google.

Samsung Electronics has entered its seventh generation foldable phone and Google has achieved sales of its three, but sales are still unsatisfactory according to Chatterjee. Overall, the sales figure of the two companies folds less than two percent.

The analyst also estimates that sales will not grow beyond 5 percent 'in the near future'. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee whether Apple will also succeed with the launch of its folding phone.
