Galaxy Z Fold 7 Owner Complains About Peeling Paint, Similar To Z Fold 6 Issues

JAKARTA - The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has been officially launching into the market for more than a month, and the device has received praise in preliminary reviews. However, some owners reported unusual hardware problems, which were previously also experienced by Galaxy Z Fold 6 users.

A number of users on the Reddit platform revealed that their Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 began peeling. This problem does not appear to be limited to certain color variants. The users consistently state that they have never dropped their phone. Some of the images uploaded by users show the paint damage.

According to the official Samsung support page for Z Fold 6, the use of third-party chargers that do not have adequate grounding can cause leaky currents. This current can damage the aluminum anodized layer of the mobile body, which functions as a protector as well as an aesthetic element. In a statement, Samsung said:

"The use of a high-speed third-party charger that does not have a good grounding can cause leaky currents that damage the anodization layer of your Galaxy device. This can cause peeling paint. To maintain the durability and appearance of the device, we strongly suggest using only the official Samsung charger, specifically designed to prevent the problem."

However, at least one Reddit user who has this problem stated that they are using the official Samsung 25W charger. This raises the suspicion that the Samsung painting process may be problematic, or that their official charger is not fully able to prevent this issue.

The problem of peeling paint is nothing new for the Galaxy Z Fold series. Previously, Galaxy Z Fold 6 users also reported similar complaints. Unfortunately, until 2025, Samsung did not seem to have managed to solve this problem as a whole.

Various parties have contacted Samsung to request an official response regarding the matter and will update the information as soon as the company gives a statement.
