In realizing the plan, Amazon has established a local entity called Amazon Kuiper Vietnam. The company is headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City. Amazon has also submitted a request to launch the LEO satellite service.
The company's pilot program application is awaiting government approval. If approved, this service will run for five years. Its target market includes individual, business, and government customers.
Through the expansion of this satellite service, Amazon wants to compete with Starlink, a service from SpaceX. Starlink has obtained permission from the Vietnamese government to operate over a five-year period so Amazon is trying to catch up.
