Meta Removes IDR 163 Trillion Funds To Use Cloud Services From Google

JAKARTA Meta, the company that oversees a number of social media platforms, is reportedly in an agreement with Google. This agreement is established in the field of cloud or cloud computing.

According to a Reuters report, the partnership, which will run for six years, is worth US$10 billion (Rp163 trillion). With this collaboration, Meta will utilize a number of Google Cloud services for the company's needs.

Meta will use servers, storage, and networks from Google's cloud. This collaboration is considered to be able to meet the needs of Meta infrastructure so that they can continue to grow in the future.

This deal came to light after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerber commented on a large investment in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Zuckerberg said the company would spend hundreds of billions of dollars.

This is done to build its AI data center massively. Meta is also known to be looking for outside partners to fund this large infrastructure. The company will release data center assets worth US$2 billion (Rp32 trillion).

This is Google's second major collaboration with other major technology companies. Previously, Google had partnered with OpenAI to meet the surge in cloud demand even though these two companies often competed in the AI sector.

This collaboration surprised many, but this shows the tremendous growth of the Google Cloud unit. In the second quarter, this unit managed to record an increase in revenue of nearly 32 percent. This figure far exceeds market expectations.
