JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, said that the Ministry of Communication and Digi had met representatives of Roblox Asia Pacific to ask for information regarding the issue of covert violence from the Roblox game.

Several parties such as the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education have proposed the Ministry of Communication and Industry to block the game, because it is considered dangerous for children.

However, Meutya emphasized that her party still needed to conduct further studies on the game, and conduct discussions with Roblox, in accordance with applicable regulations in the country.

"So of course we study it, and we have asked for information earlier, so earlier we received Roblox, who came directly to representatives from Asia Pacific," said Meutya when met at the Komdigi office on Thursday, August 14.

He said the meeting with Roblox had many things to do, the main thing was, Komdigi asked Roblox to have a representative office in Indonesia.

In addition, Meutya also asked Roblox to comply with the regulations in force in Indonesia, especially Government Regulation (PP) Number 17 of 2025 concerning Child Protection in the Digital Field (PP Tunas).

"Then also follow existing regulations, specifically for PP Tunas and also the SAME (Content Moderation Compliance System), which contains protection for children in the digital space," said Meutya further.

During the meeting, Meutya stated, as the initial stage, Roblox was committed to providing reports related to violations that occurred in the game. Meanwhile, Komdigi will continue to monitor its development.

Then, if there has been no change, Meutya insists that it will recall Roblox, which will then be decided whether the game will be blocked or limited.

"This is the initial stage, later on a regular basis we will call again, then we decide whether this needs to be blocked, whether it needs age restrictions. We are grateful that within 1-2 months Roblox will make improvements," he concluded.
