JAKARTA - Google has just rolled out a major update to the Gemini app, presenting new features that make this AI assistant smarter, personal, and secure user privacy. With the ability to remember previous conversations and unsaved 'Temporary Conversations' features, Gemini now offers a more flexible and secure experience.

The main feature in this update is Gemini's ability to given' information from previous conversations. As this feature is enabled, Gemini will keep important details and user preferences to provide more relevant and contextual responses.

For example, if you previously used Gemini to find podcast ideas about retro games, then when you ask for a new content idea, Gemini can immediately suggest topics like RPGs in the 90s or interviews with classic game designers without needing to reexplain your interests.

This feature is active by default, but users can turn it off at any time through app settings.

For users who want conversations that are not saved, Google introduces the Temporary Conversation feature. This feature allows you to talk to Gemini without storing a history or affecting future experiences.

Temporary conversations will be removed from the system after 72 hours and will not appear in your chat history. This is perfect for discussing sensitive topics or exploration of ideas beyond your usual interest, without leaving a trace.

Google also updated the privacy settings by changing the name 'App Activity Gemini' to Keep Activity. Users can now choose whether to share their upload samples to help improve Google services. Otherwise, you can turn off this settings or simply use the Temporary Conversation feature.

This update began rolling out August 13, but as usual, Google will release it gradually. So, if you haven't seen these new features, it's likely to be available in the next few weeks.
